If the nut on top is loose, take it the rest of the way off.. and go drive around and see if the noise goes away. Take both sides off, believe its a 14mm nut. The push up on the sway bar to get the bar away from the links. Finally replaced stabilizer bar cushions (about $10 each) part # 478 268 4AB and that was the culprit.
